The Employee Driven Change (EDC) process was developed to deal specifically with dysfunctional workplace behaviours in a non-punitive manner. The process encourages collaboration and concerted effort towards clearly defined company or departmental goals. This is achieved by targeting and reinforcing behaviours conducive to optimal employee functioning. The Process deals with Enhancing Employee Performance through Behaviour Modification -- increasing employee morale, efficiency and productivity using the Behavioural or Learning perspective. This approach was developed after experiencing a host of processes and programs that were implemented over a period of more than thirty years – the length of time that I have been involved with heavy industry. All these initiatives fell short because, I believe, they were mainly “top down” processes that did not address the fundamental issue of employee empowerment. Moreover, programs for implementing change may have failed because they intended to impose themselves on the existing culture.

Employee Driven Change Improving Morale Efficiency Productivity and Profitability in Organizations Steve Bailey 9783659117145 Books Reviews
Employee Driven Change by Steve Bailey is a fresh, inside-out approach to solving organisational issues that hinder cohesive - internal relationships; the blending of departments; external relationships; and effectively bridging the purpose of the organisation with the needs or wants the organisation intends to meet. The author offers a visionary solution and strategy for making change happen without the usual punitive styles that employees feel threatened by; instead "salvaging of dysfunctional employees" is advocated, which strips away the walls that block out creativity and greater use of employee talents.
The psychological base of the concept of Employee Driven Change is the learning theory, a theory that has been tested and known to work. The author insightfully applies this theory to the facilitation of the change process whilst maximising potentials and empowering employees. This fresh approach to Organisational Change is a must read!
Employee Driven Change, is an insightful tool that involves the application of a behavioural approach to improving employee morale, efficiency and productivity within organisations. The author, Steve Bailey, describes a unique method that is focused on salvaging the dysfunctional employee by altering unwanted behaviours within the organisation. This is done through a behavioural modification approach referred to as shaping, which positively reinforces the desired behaviours. EDC involves a process that does not involve the traditional top-down approach; neither does it use a punitive method of dealing with dysfunctional behaviours. Furthermore, the book identifies factors that could hinder organisational productivity and provides direction to treat with these obstacles. The text, describes a refreshing insight into a pragmatic method that can create positive changes within organisations. I would recommend this book to professionals within this area of interest and executive management within organizations that requires transformation through strategic behavioural approaches.
Employee Driven Change Improving Morale, Efficency, Productivity and Profitability in Organisations is an excellent book. The text provides in clear, unambigious language the steps that organisations can take to increase employee motivation and at the same time reap many benefits including increased profits. The author also focuses on some of the psychological issues that affect employees and thus affect the work setting and culture. Furthermore, the book adaequately addresses the obstacles that are faced in the implementation of the change process and provides guidelines to deal with these obstacles. A must read for managers truly interested in the success of both employees and organisations.
Employee Driven Change is one of the best books i have read on changing the culture and productivity levels in an organisation. The concept uses a simple behaviourist approach which is geared to giving the employee on all levels of an organisation, more of a vested interest in the organisation which has been shown to improve morale, efficiency and productivity. It is different in that it does not follow the typical top down approach taken by most organisations in attempting to change employee efficiency. Instead it shows how at all levels of an organisation, change can occur as each level manages itself before being managed by higher levels.
Mr. Bailey does an outstanding job in breaking down the EDC process. He is very thorough in explaining the step by step method of the approach and outlines the obstacles that could affect the successful implementation of the approach. He leaves nothing to chance.
Another benefit of this book over many others on the market is that it includes evaluations of this approach as used on test organisations. This lends tremendous credibility to this approach as it is often lacking in books of this nature. This is the type of approach that can quickly and effectively change the culture of an organisation which is so needed in this economic climate where competitiveness is even more critical.
